If books can have birthdays, today is it. April Fools Day notwithstanding (ou poisson d’avril, si vous préférez), I believe today is the day when Deadroads hits the proverbial shelves. I say “believe” because, well. I don’t quite believe it, not really. It’s been so very long coming,  I feel as though Deadroads was written a by someone else, a very long time ago.

I am equal parts thrilled and gutted when people ask me about it, when friends say, “So, will I be able to find it at Chapters?” Because I just don’t know. I don’t. I know that you can order it online, and you can get it as an eBook, but I haven’t seen the real thing yet.

My darling publishers are sending me a box, which I desperately hopes arrives in time to be tossed in the back of Derek Künsken‘s SUV (a Forester, I believe) and driven down to Toronto for Ad Astra. I will also accompany the box of books, with some additional fortification of several boxes of beer. Matt Moore will also be with us, and I really hope that they don’t talk basketball all the way, otherwise I’ll just have to look out the window and go to my happy place.

Still, happy birthday, Deadroads! Can’t wait to meet you.
